Proviso-Leyden Council for Community Action, Inc.

Porter Family Center Foundation

                                 About Us

A visionary name Reverend Claude Porter established an organization called Proviso Leyden Council for Community Action (PLCCA) in 1968. This was a not-for-profit corporation whose primary focus was to serve low-income residents in the cook county’s Proviso and Leyden townships, joining in partnerships with the community.

PLCCA offers over 30 programs and services to assist families with housing and energy assistance, substance abuse issues, adult literacy and senior services. New Programs such as Illinois Teen Reach, Gang Intervention and Teen Parent Services have been added or expanded to reach the full range of youth.

PLCCA serves over 30,000 unduplicated clients every year. But with state and federal funding being cut every year, Rev. Porter knew that he had to do more and so in December, 2000 the Porter Family Center Foundation (PFCF) was established as a public, not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization. Rev. Claude and Ernestine Porter now have a way of showing their commitment to those who are at risk, left out, left behind or without financial support. The foundation also created the Debra Ann Porter Scholarship Fund, which represents her commitment to childcare.
