WHO WE ARE |

Substance Abuse Operations Substance Abuse Operations is a program designed to offer addicted persons 18 years or older ( 16 - 18 with parental consent ) the opportunity to discontinue dependence on drugs. Services provided by the Program include assessments, methadone therapy, group and individual counseling, family counseling, relapse prevention training, urine screening, ongoing substance abuse education, and referrals to hospitals and halfway houses. Clients are urged to participate in support groups ( AA, NA, DDA, Alanon, etc.). In addition, confidential HIV counseling and testing are available to clients. Other services which are available within the P.L.C.C.A. continuum of care include W.I.C. ( Women, Infants and Children ), Headstard, I.H.E.A.P. ( Illinois Home Engrgy Assistance Program), Weatherization, Education Talent Search, Job Training Partnership Act ( J.T.P.A.), Senior Citizens, and a Medical and Dental Clinic. Substance Abuse Operations is funded by the Illinois Department of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse and the Proviso Township Mental Health Commission. The facility is licensed for adult outpatient treatment and adult medical detoxification by the Illinois Department of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse. The counselors are certified by the Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association, Inc. Substance Abuse Operations is located at 308 South 5th Avenue, Maywood, Illinois 60153, (708) 343 - 1275, and serves suburban Cook County, including Proviso and Leyden Townships. Limited referrals are taken from the areas outside of Chicago. The present capacity is approximately ninety clients and there is an ongoing waiting list of approximately twenty-five.
