Celebrating a Historic Milestone: Chicago HBCU Baseball Week

In a landmark move for sports and education, Mayor Brandon Johnson officially proclaimed the week of April 26 to May 3 as Chicago HBCU Baseball Week. This announcement reflects a commitment to celebrating the legacy and future of African American contributions to baseball and education. The week-long celebration will be highlighted by the Inaugural HBCU Baseball Classic, a thrilling face-off between the Alabama A&M Bulldogs and the Prairie View A&M Panthers at the iconic Wrigley Field.

At the heart of this proclamation is a deep appreciation for the role Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) have played in creating opportunities and advancing the prospects of countless young African Americans.
