Spring is in the air, and the students in Classroom 10 embraced the season with an exciting plant study this month! As part of their learning, teachers introduced the children to the basics of planting seeds, watering them, and observing their growth over time.
Students explored how plants develop—from a tiny seed to a fully grown plant—gaining a better understanding of what plants need to thrive. Through hands-on experiences and daily observations, the children were able to see the growth process in action.
To extend their learning, teachers incorporated creative projects that allowed students to express what they had learned. One highlight was a fun art activity where children used forks and paint to create beautiful flowers on paper, demonstrating their understanding of plant parts and growth in a creative way.
The plant study was a wonderful blend of science and creativity, helping students build knowledge while having fun!

Exploring Plants in the Infant & Toddler Classroom
This month, the Infant and Toddler classroom 2 introduced a sensory-rich plant study designed especially for their youngest learners. Understanding that infants and toddlers explore the world through touch and taste, teachers created a safe and engaging experience to introduce the concept of how plants grow.
To represent soil, teachers used crushed Oreo cookies and gathered the children around the table for a hands-on activity. As teachers talked about soil and how it helps plants grow, students were encouraged to explore using their senses—touching, tasting, and observing the “soil” in a fun and safe way.
This activity provided a simple introduction to planting while supporting sensory development and curiosity. Through this experience, children began to explore the basics of nature in a way that was meaningful and appropriate for their developmental stage.
It was a fun, messy, and memorable way to begin learning about plants!
