Thinking Outside the Box: Container Study in Classroom 4

- 1 min read

This month in Classroom 4, Early Head Start students explored the exciting world of containers! Through hands-on activities and creative play, teachers encouraged children to think “outside the box” while discovering all the different ways containers can be used.
One highlight of the study was a fun and interactive art project. Each student placed a piece of paper with their name, along with paint and small balls, inside a container. As they shook the container, the movement created colorful and unique designs—resulting in personalized nameplates that each child was proud to call their own.
Throughout the month, students also explored containers through imaginative play. Some children used closed containers to hold toy cars and created makeshift roads, while others placed materials inside containers to design enclosed play spaces for moving objects around. These activities allowed students to experiment, create, and problem-solve in meaningful ways.
Through the container study, students learned that containers can hold, carry, and transform materials in creative ways. The activities also supported the development of large motor skills as children shook, carried, and manipulated the containers during play.
It was a month full of discovery, creativity, and hands-on learning!
